Update on Kitchen Cabinets

Our kitchen cabinets are almost finished being installed. We are waiting on two panels to come in to surround our refrigerator and the cabinet above the refrigerator. After those come in, our installers can come back and install and do adjustments. The people came and measured today for our counter tops and we go tomorrow to pick out the slab of granite that we want for our counter tops. The counter tops should be installed next week. Here are a few pictures:

The dishwasher will be installed in this opening.

View around the corner from the picture above. Microwave and stove will be installed in these openings. Complete with a built in 6 bottle wine rack and shelf for cookbooks (thanks to Matt and his dad for designing and measuring this)!
 Pantry in the kitchen.
I am as excited about my kitchen as I was last weekend when NCSU beat FSU 17-16 in the final seconds of the game!

The cabinets were delivered on Thursday and began being installed on Friday. The installers will come back on Monday to finish the job. A few pictures from yesterday:

I'll post more as it happens! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Funny Moment

Last Saturday, Matt and I were getting ready to go to a friend's wedding.  Matt poured himself a glass of water while we were getting ready. He came in to the bedroom to finish getting ready and he put his glass down. Not 2 minutes later he asked, "Jess, do you know where I put my glass?" Of course I had no clue, but I knew that it hadn't been that long ago that he had gotten it. We looked all over our house (which takes about 4 minutes to do) and couldn't find it anywhere. He hadn't been outside so we knew it had to be in this house somewhere. We checked bathroom, closet, refrigerator, dishwasher, etc... It was no where to be found.

Fast forward to tonight (5 full days later)...

Matt opened one of his drawers where his undershirts are supposed to be and just busted out laughing. I looked and this is what I saw...

Excuse the randomness that is also housed in his undershirt drawer. Also, excuse the fact that we have not done laundry in a while and there are no undershirts in there either!

All is well in our house tonight because we found the glass of water!

We are getting so close to moving in!

It seems weird that we have owned this house since April! It's hard to believe that we might actually get to move in this month (fingers crossed)! I'm so excited that I will soon be in my own home!

We have now put in the dry wall and begun to paint the walls. Our tile is in the process of being installed in the kitchen and the bathroom. The kitchen cabinets were delivered today and are supposed to be installed tomorrow! I wish you could see the "giddy grin" that is on my face as I write this post.

Remember when you could see from the Living Room to the Kitchen...

Now you can't...the door was closed up!
Living room sanded and ready to paint!
Master ready to paint...
 Kitchen ready to paint.
Bathroom before dry wall...(the opening is where the pantry used to come in to the bathroom)
Bathroom after dry wall
Guest room painted and ready for molding!

We have also painted the bathroom, hallway, living room, and part of the kitchen. I just don't have pictures yet!

Passing inspections left and right...

Feels good every time an inspector signs off!

We have finished all of our "rough in" inspections. Now we can put in dry wall and make this place start looking like a home!

Our electrical bills just went down...

because we now have insulation! When we tore out the sheet rock, we were floored to find that there was NO insulation in the walls of our house. The only insulation that was in the house was "loose fill" insulation in the ceilings. We added insulation to keep our air/heat in and keep noise from traveling room to room.

 Look how warm and cozy!
 Soundproofing the walls!

 My handyman putting in insulation!

We even put cement in the hole. This is where the old wood stove would have been attached to the chimney.
 All closed up!
Closed up with insulation on top!
