Happy Halloween!!

The pumpkin at the beginning!
Matt drawing the design. (My perfectionist husband made me get goo-gone and erase the lines that I had drawn. Needless to say, I didn't draw the eyes with the correct proportions.)

Matt carving away. (I wasn't allowed to use the sharp knife.) My poor future children will have no part in this tradition.

Our first married halloween!!
(We even baked the pumpkin seeds!)

It's been a year since we got engaged!

This time last year, this is what changed my life!
October 29,2009: I informed Matt that we had gotten our first red tomato on our tomato plant (we had planted them in June).
October 30, 2009: I was waiting for Matt to arrive in Raleigh from Sumter, SC. It was late and we were going to head to Moe's to grab dinner. He gets home, puts his stuff down, and then:
Matt: Let's go see the red tomato.
Me: Okay, let me grab my stuff and we can just go straight to dinner.
Matt: We can come back in and get your stuff.
Me: It makes more sense if I just get my stuff. We can see the tomato and then get in the car and go.
Matt: Okay...it's up to you.
We walk outside to the tomato plant. (I have my stuff.)
Me: I didn't realize it was so cold out here. It looks like there is ice on the plant.
I look closer...realize what it is...turn around...Matt is on one knee...and the rest I don't remember.
We get engaged, call all our family, and then he says...
Matt: We aren't going to Moe's. We have reservations in 30 minutes.
Me: Whoaaaa...(still on cloud 9).
I am dressed for Moe's and I have to quickly get ready for Second Empire.
We have a wonderful night and don't have a clue how much planning is ahead!
Fastforward to October 30, 2010:
We are now married, homeless, living with his parents, working opposite schedules, and still in love!

Things that inspire me...

There are several things that have happened today that have inspired me...

1) Chick-fil-a's amazing customer service!
I went through the drive thru tonight at 8:30 pm and there was a line. Not a big deal. After all, I was the one that was to lazy to walk inside. When I get to the window, they apologize over and over about me having to wait. They then tell me it will be another minute before my nuggets are ready. I say, no problem. They come back and apologize again and give me a coupon for a free chicken sandwich for having to wait. Seriously, I waited like 3.5 minutes. Then they tell me, "It was my pleasure serving you." At 8:30 pm after I am sure they have had a long day, it was still their pleasure to serve me.

2) Massages.
I went to my mailbox at school the other day and found a little yellow envelope. I was curious as to what it was and when I opened it up, I got a real surprise! My sweet husband had dropped off a gift card to Skin Sense for a full body massage plus tip! He had written a note that said, "A little just because..." I had a wonderful massage tonight and I am now super relaxed waiting for him to get home.

3) A student at my school.
We have a new student at school who was at our school last year and then moved away. Over the summer, he had a severe asthma attack which caused a heart attack leaving him brain dead for 15 minutes. He is now back at our school in a wheelchair and relearning everything. This sweet child is relearning to walk, talk, and do everything and he NEVER GIVES UP! I watched in awe today while he was on the playground, holding on to the equipment and wobbling around just trying to walk again. He wouldn't give up and the other kids were there supporting him every step of the way. If this child isn't an inspiration, then I don't know who is!
