Kitchen Backsplash...Check

We are one step closer to moving in. The kitchen backsplash tile has been installed, grouted, and sealed! Here are a few pictures:

We were also thrilled to have the NCSU football team to show up to a game this month and beat Wake Forest!
We should be moving in next week!

House Updates...

It looks like we may really move in this month! We have been very busy painting, putting in baseboard, painting baseboard, putting up trim around the windows, painting windows, and putting up crown molding. Did I mention we have been painting? I don't care if I ever see another paintbrush in my life!
Here are some pictures:

Remember when that grate was in the hallway

My father-in-law is amazing. He "feathered" in hardwood from the old dining room to cover the grate up.

I think you are all caught up with where we are on the house renovation! We are anxiously awaiting the day (in the next week or so) when we can move in and actually live where we pay our mortgage!

Election Night...

This is one of my most favorite days! I love ELECTION DAY! I love that I live in a country where I have the freedom to vote and have my views. I have many friends who share the same views as me and many who do not. However, we live in a country where we are FREE! I wholeheartedly thank all the men and women who have sacrificed to give me this right to vote today.

I will be tuned in all night watching results as they come in. I'm eager to see who gets elected. Hopefully, at the end of the night, I will be popping a bottle of champagne!

I will be updating my blog with house updates tonight as I have plenty of time sitting here on my living room floor!

Update on Kitchen Cabinets

Our kitchen cabinets are almost finished being installed. We are waiting on two panels to come in to surround our refrigerator and the cabinet above the refrigerator. After those come in, our installers can come back and install and do adjustments. The people came and measured today for our counter tops and we go tomorrow to pick out the slab of granite that we want for our counter tops. The counter tops should be installed next week. Here are a few pictures:

The dishwasher will be installed in this opening.

View around the corner from the picture above. Microwave and stove will be installed in these openings. Complete with a built in 6 bottle wine rack and shelf for cookbooks (thanks to Matt and his dad for designing and measuring this)!
 Pantry in the kitchen.
I am as excited about my kitchen as I was last weekend when NCSU beat FSU 17-16 in the final seconds of the game!

Kitchen Update

The cabinets were delivered on Thursday and began being installed on Friday. The installers will come back on Monday to finish the job. A few pictures from yesterday:

I'll post more as it happens! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Funny Moment

Last Saturday, Matt and I were getting ready to go to a friend's wedding.  Matt poured himself a glass of water while we were getting ready. He came in to the bedroom to finish getting ready and he put his glass down. Not 2 minutes later he asked, "Jess, do you know where I put my glass?" Of course I had no clue, but I knew that it hadn't been that long ago that he had gotten it. We looked all over our house (which takes about 4 minutes to do) and couldn't find it anywhere. He hadn't been outside so we knew it had to be in this house somewhere. We checked bathroom, closet, refrigerator, dishwasher, etc... It was no where to be found.

Fast forward to tonight (5 full days later)...

Matt opened one of his drawers where his undershirts are supposed to be and just busted out laughing. I looked and this is what I saw...

Excuse the randomness that is also housed in his undershirt drawer. Also, excuse the fact that we have not done laundry in a while and there are no undershirts in there either!

All is well in our house tonight because we found the glass of water!

We are getting so close to moving in!

It seems weird that we have owned this house since April! It's hard to believe that we might actually get to move in this month (fingers crossed)! I'm so excited that I will soon be in my own home!

We have now put in the dry wall and begun to paint the walls. Our tile is in the process of being installed in the kitchen and the bathroom. The kitchen cabinets were delivered today and are supposed to be installed tomorrow! I wish you could see the "giddy grin" that is on my face as I write this post.

Remember when you could see from the Living Room to the Kitchen...

Now you can't...the door was closed up!

We have also painted the bathroom, hallway, living room, and part of the kitchen. I just don't have pictures yet!
