Just letting you know...

It is currently 8:38 pm on Monday, September 20, 2010 and YES my husband is still at work!!! He worked this past Saturday from 6:00 am until 5:00 pm and again on Sunday from 6:00 am until 6:00 pm! It is almost 9:00 and my husband is NOT home! This means that I have not eaten dinner and I am really hungry! It also means that shortly after dinner, I have to go to bed. My nutritionist and trainer would not be pleased about the calories after 7:00 pm, but what can a girl do! (Okay, stop laughing! No I don't have a trainer or a nutritionist, but if I did, they wouldn't be happy!)

Hope you are all having a wonderful evening!!

You are cordially invited...

...to my Pity Party!

When: Now
Where: wherever you are
Why: My husband works all the time!
What to bring: your violin

So, I thought moving back to Raleigh was going to be this fantastic thing. I mean, I am married to a super dude, living in the city I LOVE, and having two incomes (Does mine even count?).

We found out after his first visit to his new plant that he would have to work the second shift (i.e. 2:30 until 11:30 pm) until December. Sigh. The guy who he is replacing on first shift is retiring at the end of December. After December, he will be put back on first shift (i.e. normal hours). I found the positive in this! At least we are in Raleigh! They could have left us in Sumter until December!

So we moved back and they told us that the second shift hours wouldn't start until October! Awesome!

What they didn't tell me (not sure why HR hasn't contacted me) is that he would be working all day!!! He goes in to work in the morning and doesn't get home until 7:30 or 8:00. WHAT!!! That means he is working like 12 or 13 hour days.

Me being the good wife that I am waits for him to get home for dinner! My kids (that means students) and I eat lunch at 11:10. That means I wait like 8 hours before eating dinner. He comes home most nights to a wife that has eaten her arms off!

Okay, so I found the positive in this one. He is so good at what he does, loves his job, and doesn't mind the long hours. I'm really happy for him!

Here is the next part...now they are working on Saturdays! Fantastic. Now I only see my husband for 2 hours a night (I have to go to bed early because I require lots of sleep!) and on Sundays!

It gets better...he comes home this past Wednesday and says they are working on Sundays now!

Now every other weekend until who knows when...my husband words Monday through Friday and every other Saturday and Sunday! And, he isn't even on the "real" second shift yet.

Starting next week, he'll work until 11:30 at night and every other FULL weekend!

I found the positive in this one...I will see him in January!!!!

Hey! "AT LEAST IT ISN'T SUMTER!"

Okay, the party has ended! Needless to say, I have plenty of free nights and weekends if anyone wants to do anything! Love you all!!!

The Joys of Teaching...

As you know I teach third graders and often times they say something that makes you laugh really hard. Other times they say something that makes you say, "Wow!" Well one of those comments happened today.

I was talking to the kids about writing stories and we were brainstorming ideas that we could write about. Our topic today was "What if" stories. I gave them ideas like: "What if you were an animal?" "What if you were the principal?" etc...

And then I said, "What if I gave you a hundred dollars?" Before I could go on, one kid said, "Woahhh, I would be a billionaire!"

Trying to control the eye rolling and smart comments. I said nicely, "Actually you would just have a hundred dollars. To be a billionaire, you would need a billion dollars!"

I really do love my kids this year!!!
